I used to be a medic. It's good the resisted the urge to pull the knife out. NEVER DO THAT. The knife is what's preventing a life threatening loss of blood. The all knives are serated in both directions. That was no butter knife. So doctors cut the knife out. Rather than pull it causing more tissue damage.
