Dude damn near goes into the drink.
How did he survive his nearly fall....

It's a ruin and there's tons of boulders and rubble everywhere, one is even above water level. Just a few steps more and he could have split his skull on it.
Happened to a friend of my father who was 80+ years old. He jumped from a cliff, hit a rock below the surface, fractured his skull and almost drowned, but survived and recovered from it.
