We did the same thing on Oak Park ave in Tinley Park, Illinois back in 1980
We used clear fishing line with a small piece of wood at one end placed in an opened mailbox, the other attached to a road sign pole
The car would pass, wood would strike car, we would go out and place wood back into mailbox and wait.....
I love the compassion for fellow humans shown by the other Indians.
