Horton was shot to death by a Shelby County deputy on March 20 on Ellis Road near Golden Valley Lane in the Bartlett area around 2:40 p.m. About two hours earlier, Horton pulled a shotgun on her fiancé before she took off in the car, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. In body-worn camera from one deputy at the traffic stop that ended Horton's life, the deputy can be seen walking up to the white van with a gun pointed at the driver's seat. "Get out the truck. Get the f*** out the truck. Get the f*** out this motherf****ing truck," the deputy can be hears shouting while banging on the driver's window. Another deputy shouts "let me see your hands" as Horton turns around inside of the vehicle. Through the window, what appears to be a long gun can be seen before a deputy opens fire. Nearly 20 shots follow, shattering the window and leaving bullet holes in the vehicle. The deputy then immediately calls in "shots fired. 240. shots fired" to dispatch and calling the Shelby County Fire Department to the scene. That deputy was put on administrative leave while the deadly shooting was investigated.
