Having held the hand of a dying person, whilst it sucks ass to do it, it gives reassurance and peace to the dying.

We’re alive afterwards, so we deal with the issues, in my case for decades, but at least it can make the dying persons last few minutes on our fucked up space rock, a little bit more pleasant and peaceful before they pass away.
