During August, 2021, Omaha, Nebraska got hit with heavy rain, falling at 4 inches per hour (that's insane). These people were trapped in the elevator in their apartment building due to flash flooding in the lobby. They called emergency services and soon the water was so deep the woman stood on the railings on the wall so she didn't go under. The two finally forced the elevator doors open and made their way out.
Meanwhile, four other people were trapped in another elevator in the same building. All eventually made it out without injury.
Some roads had floodwaters two or three feet deep in places. And yes, there is probably loads of poop in the water, the sewer systems were massively overloaded, according to the guy in charge of Omaha sewer maintenance.
When you're about to drown to death, make sure your first order of priority is whipping out your cell phone and recording it.
