For the last time.
Grandpa had stopped, his foot was on the road and he was braced for impact. Probably skint and thought about the personal injury claim.
That was more than enough distance to safely stop in time. Does that car not have brakes?
I saw a slow moving, sad-faced old gentleman as he bounced off the bonnet of my car.
