Cellphone Explodes While Charging, Young Man in Batam Burns The cellphone explosion incident in Batam claimed a victim. A man known as Bastian Sihombing (23) suffered serious burns in the disaster. According to information obtained from the police, the incident occurred in the Bukit Raya Housing area, Belian Village, Batam City, Friday (11/10/2024) at around 09.00 WIB. The victim's neighbors initially heard the sound of an explosion. They looked for the source of the sound but could not find it. Finally, residents heard the victim's screams from inside his house. There, residents also saw white smoke billowing after the explosion occurred. Residents also doused the location with water to remove the smoke. From the video circulating on social media, residents managed to lift the victim with his mattress to the terrace of the house. Then covered with banana leaves. During the evacuation, the victim screamed in pain. After the car arrived in front of the house, the victim was lifted into the car to be taken to the hospital. "Ouch, it hurts, it hurts so much," he shouted in the video. Batam City Police Chief, Commissioner Anak Agung Made Winarta confirmed the incident. According to him, the victim was asleep while charging his cellphone.
