I think the Brits did an amazing job in 1982 launching a carrier attack task force, within only 3 days of the Argentinians invading the islands. Only 1 month later, the Brits torpedoed the USS Phoenix, a Brooklyn class Cruiser, by then called General Belgrano. The Brits shot down plenty of Argentinian A4 and Mirage fighter/attack aircraft using some of the 200 Sidewinder missiles from Uncle Sam.
Then they landed troops on the island about 7-8 weeks after disembarking from UK, the ground war, (which included some serious fighting, some of it hand to hand or using bayonets), lasted about 3 weeks before the Argentinians surrendered.
Pretty damn good effort that in 10-11 weeks, they sailed around 8,000 miles, and attacked a dug in army of some 13,000 Argentinians.
I believe the number of Brit combat troops landed was only in the vicinity of 5,000, so an incredible victory for democracy.
It came at a cost of around 250 Brits killed, they lost a number of boats, inc 4 big warships (type 21&42) and quite a few aircraft, many of which were lost attacking Argentinian ground positions. Pretty brutal short sharp war.
Now why wasn’t Russia kicked back out of Ukraine in 11weeks too??
Thick cunt.
