Edgewater, CO, USA December 30, 2023-Alfredo Gallegos, 40, is suing cops for excessive force, claiming serious injury and PTSD suffered at American Legion Post 17. Edgewater Officer Paul Perez tased Gallegos and claimed Gallegos approached quickly, had a pocketknife and could have used beer bottles or chair to attack. Perez was told to resign or be fired by the police chief. All charges against Gallegos were dropped. Perez was fired in 2019 from Boulder County Sheriff for pulling his gun on people who did not appear to pose a threat, yelling at one car theft suspect "I'll blow your brains out" while holding a gun to the back of his head (see 9News video).
