The motorcycle rider was late...Newport Beach Police Officer was traveling eastbound on West Coast Highway. The Officer stopped at a red light when he noticed a motorcycle burn said red light. The motorcycle rider was later identified as 45-year-old Geoffrey Stirling. The officer issued multiple commands, instructing Sterling to sit down, but he failed to comply. Sterling advanced toward the officer and a physical altercation occurred. During the altercation, Sterling struck the officer several times in the head and then removed the officer's taser from his duty belt.The officer was able to break free and as Sterling pointed the taser at him, an officer-involved shooting occurred.

The cop stupidly turned his back on the suspect while calling for backup and when the suspect advanced towards him because of it, he let his pride get in the way of good decision making like waiting for his backup to arrive. The cop could of gotten himself killed over his ego. The guy threatened him and the cop reacted by getting in a wrestling match with him. The cop thought he had an easy takedown but the suspect was a little tougher than he figured him to be........
