On September 27, 2018, Adam Nolin, 33, fatally shot his girlfriend, Tia Randall, 27, a mother of two, in the bathroom of their mobile home in Creekside Estates, Wyoming, Michigan. Prosecutors argued Nolin planned the ambush killing because he was angry Randall wanted to date a co-worker, stating, “If he couldn’t keep Tia, no one else could have her.” After the shooting, Nolin led police on a chase, crashing on US 131, fleeing on foot, and opening fire on officers, who rammed him with an SUV, causing serious injuries. Nolin’s defense claimed he “snapped” out of depression and despair, with no premeditation, and sought “suicide-by-cop” during the pursuit. Nolin was charged with open murder, two counts of attempted murder, and other felonies; a Kent County jury convicted him of first-degree murder and related charges on June 20, 2019. On August 12, 2019, Nolin was sentenced to life in prison without parole; Randall’s family told him during sentencing, “Prison is too good for you.” No further updates on appeals or Nolin’s status were reported as of July 10, 2025.
