When followe...officers with the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) were in a store when they observed an adult male, later identified 37-year-old Dwight Hawkins, who they believed to be armed. When followed, Hawkins began to run from the officers. he pulled out a handgun, coming in close proximity to one of the officers. Two officers fired their service weapons, striking Hawkins. Officers rendered emergency medical aid until emergency medical services (EMS) arrived on scene. Hawkins was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
