A witness stated that the suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Zion Skepple, had been brandishing a gun in front of several people. When officers arrived, Skepple, who matched the suspect’s description, was observed walking away while repeatedly looking back at the patrol vehicle. Despite multiple verbal commands to stop, Skepple did not comply. The officer attempted to deploy a Taser, but it was initially ineffective. Skepple then fled toward a nearby apartment. A second Taser deployment caused him to fall, but he quickly got up and continued moving toward an apartment door. At one point, Skepple turned away from the officer and appeared to reach for something out of the officer’s sight. The officer drew their service weapon and ordered Skepple to stop and get on the ground. Skepple complied and was safely taken into custody. A search revealed he was carrying a firearm with an extended magazine loaded with 31 rounds, as well as cannabis. Skepple was charged with Possession of Cannabis and Resisting an Officer Without Violence.
