This is the jaw dropping moment a planned assassination attempt in La Concordia, Ecuador, turned into a self inflicted disaster for a group of six gunmen. The black and white Ring camera footage starts with a terrifying scene: a squad of hooded criminals jumping out of a car and unleashing a hail of gunfire into a residential home. In the heat of the moment and the adrenaline of the attack, one of the assailants reportedly pulled the safety pin on a hand grenade. But in a fatal lapse of focus, he tossed the pin and kept the live explosive as they all scrambled back into the vehicle to make their escape. “Quick, quick! Get in!” were among the last words shouted as they sped off, thinking they had completed their mission. They didn’t even make it a block away. Less than 30 seconds into their flight, the interior of the car turned into a fireball. The resulting blast was so powerful it claimed the lives of four of the criminals instantly, leaving the remaining two to explain to the authorities how a “perfect hit” turned into their own funeral pyre. This serves as a grim reminder that when you go looking for trouble, sometimes trouble stays right in the backseat with you. A literal “Darwin Award” moment captured for the world to see. Show more
