A man gets hit with a Taser more than three times (50,000 volts each)… brushes it off like it’s nothing… then knocks a Lowell police officer clean out. This all went down around 1:16 a.m. Sunday morning (July 26) outside the Tescobar Performance Center at 72 Middlesex Street in Downtown Lowell, Massachusetts. Police were responding to a major brawl that broke out after an unofficial “Lowell Folk Fest After Party.” (The official Lowell Folk Festival had already ended hours earlier and organizers made clear the event had zero connection to them.) Video shows officers trying to take the man into custody. Multiple Taser deployments appear to have almost no effect. He stays on his feet, then connects with a heavy punch that drops the officer hard to the ground. The officer suffered a concussion and was taken to Lowell General Hospital’s Saints Campus. Two people were arrested at the scene. One was described by officers as “uncooperative” and was also transported to the hospital. Several other people were injured and multiple ambulances were called as the chaotic crowd was cleared from the area (including the nearby Early Garage). City Manager Tom Golden didn’t hold back: “This type of behavior will not be tolerated.
