As deputies prepared to breach the residence, they made multiple announcements identifying themselves as members of the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. Despite clear indications that law enforcement was at the residence, the suspect, 29-year-old Anthony Cusati, fired multiple rounds through the door at the deputies as they attempted to make entry. Two of the deputies were struck by gunfire.
