The 911 caller indicated that a man in the home, who was identified as 56-year-old David Eversole, had access to knives. Four officers responded to the home. The 911 caller met them at the front door and led them to the room Eversole was in. As officers approached the room, they could hear yelling and learned that a family member was also in the room with Eversole. Officers opened the door to the room and got the family member out. One of the officers then entered the room. Eversole became upset and pulled out a large knife. The officer gave Eversole multiple verbal commands to drop the knife, but he did not comply. As the officer started backing out of the room, Eversole came towards him still holding the knife. The officer fired his service weapon multiple times, striking Eversole. Immediately following the shooting, officers provided first aid to Eversole until paramedics arrived. Eversole was transported to an area hospital where he later died. No officers and no others in the home were injured during this incident. All four officers were placed on administrative leave following the shooting. They have since returned to work.

What exactly did he do for officers to come into his home? Technically, he does have the right to be armed with a weapon in his own home. The excerpt says “police were dispatched”. It doesn’t say he was threatening anyone. This seems fishy. They didn’t have probably cause and why would they lead with lethal if he didn’t have a firearm in his possession. They should have used less-lethal. He’s an old man and could have been subdued with a taser. I’m pro-blue but this smells rotten.
Yeah yeah shots fired
Should've shot him before he got to the door, he had no good intentions with Rambo's knife
