At his interrogation Alexander Alexeev, 31, said the incident came when he had accused his wife of cheating on him for several years with another man. At the time, the couple and their two daughters, four and two, were on the way to visit the dentist in Satka town from their village of Novobelokatai in Russia. Passers-by in the village of Alekseevka rushed to the scene after hearing the children crying in the car. The Russian Investigative committee of Chelyabinsk region reported: "The man was detained and a case opened under the criminal code article ‘Murder with particular cruelty’.” The man has been remanded in custody.
