My guess is that he was shot twice in the back. Small caliber pistoll, possibly .25 auto or .22LR. The reason for so much blood on left side is that it appears he was resting on the concrete behind him for a while and the blood pooled (see puddle). Small caliber pistol rounds from short barrels do not exceed 850fps and loose inertia fast. I’m guessing the slugs are embedded in his chest cavity - hence, no exit wounds.
