I know the background to this photo. I read about it in a book of media photos I bought back in the early 80's, some of the most tragic and amazing photos were in it but I lost it somewhere in the midst of time, no doubt lent it out and forgot about it. // The poor girl was standing on the 'balcony' holding her child waiting to be rescued by the fire crew, but the 'balcony' or whatever it's called (you can see it in the photo falling with them) gave way under their weight because the bolts holding it to the wall had rusted away over the years, looking at it again now I'm not sure it was designed for anything other than the weight of potted plants and the like.
