https://www.antena3.ro/actualitate/film-tragedie-jepii-mici-fata-19-ani-ucisa-urs-715005.html The case of the 19-year-old girl, killed, dragged and eaten by a bear in a ravine, on the most famous mountain trail, Jepii Mici, in the Prahova Valley, shocked many people. Two criminal cases have been opened following the tragedy in Jepii Mici, in which a 19-year-old woman was killed by a bear. Police are investigating the girl's death, as well as the killing of the bear by a hunter. It is unlikely that the authorities will be able to take action at this time, after the Minister of the Environment announced that a relocation should be made, given that the bear population has doubled in Romania after 2020. Authorities have opened two criminal cases in this case. The first is for manslaughter, in the case of the 19-year-old woman who had no chance against the bear. When she crossed the path with her boyfriend, the wild animal attacked her. Rescuers later intervened, but were unable to approach for a while because the bear had remained in the area, considering the girl to be its prey. Then the bear was shot by a game warden. Another criminal case has been opened in this case, and it concerns hunting poaching, which is being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Sinaia Courthouse. The game warden had to go and sign the document, to make statements. According to initial information, criminal prosecution will not be initiated, because it is a matter of procedure, but this time too the authorities are getting involved in the legislation. Specialists say that the legislation does not correlate with the reality on the ground. Tourists are also scared, as are locals, who say they can't get past the bears in broad daylight, that they even come to their homes and look in the trash. 3:45 p.m.: First call to 112. The girl's boyfriend called the rescuers. The young man was shouting into the phone that they were being attacked by a bear and that it had grabbed the girl, pulled her by the leg, and that he didn't see what he did to her. 5:00 PM: The SMURD helicopter arrives in the area. Rescuers find the boy. They rappel down 120 meters into the valley, but the 19-year-old was already dead. The bear was next to her and jumped to attack the rescuers. Initially, they wanted to recover the body with the help of the helicopter, but the mission was canceled. 9:00 PM: A hunter kills the aggressive animal. Rescuers recover the girl's body from the ravine. The first reaction of the boyfriend of the girl eaten by the bear The boyfriend of the girl killed by the bear reacted and says that "it was an accident and that's it." "I can't declare anything. I declared what had to be declared, an accident happened and that's it. (...) Imagine what it's like for me and for the people close to her." Asked how the bear ended up near them, the young man says: "It's a forest, after all. We didn't get to see it... I tried to do everything in my power to save it. but... "Don't be stupid and go to the mountains without bear spray, because bad things happen," said the victim's boyfriend. Who is the young woman killed by the bear: the 19-year-old girl had graduated from high school in June The 19-year-old woman attacked and killed by a bear had just graduated from high school in June. Everyone is horrified because this ferocious bear attack, after dragging the victim into the ravine, killed her and refused to leave. Including the rescue operation in this case was a long one. Owner of the Zărnești bear sanctuary: I don't think the bear pulled her into the abyss "In our country, they focus on the effect, not the cause. We should know what exactly happened. Why was that bear there? It's a mountain trail, tourists often travel there, it's very beautiful, thousands of tourists travel there and none of them encountered the bear (...). The forestry fund, the directorate that handles this forestry hunting fund, should know how many bears it has and be able to keep them. Just as the game warden showed up when the accident happened, these bears should be guarded, because on this route it is known that there are tourists who climb. The idea that the bear dragged her into the abyss, pushed her with its paw, and all that nonsense, I can't comment on, because I don't believe it. We have 130 bears in our reserves and I have known their behavior very well for 20 years. It's also warm in the sanctuary, so that doesn't explain the bear's presence, and we don't know how far that chasm is, nor what the young man was doing during that time, there are many questions that need to be answered. First of all, we need to start managing the bear population, counting them, because people keep saying that there are too many bears, that their number has doubled. "Let's know once and for all how many bears we have, what forest is left, how much we can afford, so that the forestry funds receive funds to feed the bears in the forest," said Cristina Lapis, owner of the Zărneşti bear sanctuary.
