Obviuosly, they were cutting the tree down to increase the scenic view from their porch. Well now they have increased the view from inside the house now. Anyway, looks like a bit of bad luck. They wedged it propery, but the damn tree spun and reverse direction on them (happens every once and a while). Notice how the tree is to one side of the stump and not directly behind the stump.
