The concept itself is ancient — exaggeration as truth-telling, visual distortion as commentary on moral distortion. What we’re looking at is the Roman bread and circuses system in its purest modern form. The Empire didn’t create poverty; it created dependence. Citizens received grain distributions not out of charity but out of necessity — a hungry population is an unstable population. The state became the provider, and the citizen became the supplicant. Jabba here isn’t a commentary on individual laziness; he’s a mirror held up to a system that has made hundreds of millions of people structurally reliant on the machinery of state provision. The real obscenity isn’t the person receiving benefits. It’s that we’ve allowed the conversation to become moral rather than mechanical. Rome didn’t debate whether the poor deserved grain; it simply used grain as a tool of control. We’ve inherited that exact playbook but wrapped it in the language of virtue and shame. The system creates the conditions that require the system, and we’ve turned that into individual failing. The prank is that we believe this is a question of personal responsibility when it’s actually a question of systemic design. We mock the dependent while defending the dependence machine itself.

"Pete Hegseth Spent Millions on Steak, Crab Legs and Lobster: Report" (Newsweek, March 12, 2026)
"The Pentagon spent millions of dollars on luxury food items, consumer electronics and other discretionary purchases in the final month of the last fiscal year, according to a new analysis by government spending watchdog Open the Books.
"The report found that the Department of Defense, headed by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, spent $93.4 billion on grants and contracts in September 2025, the largest single‑month total ever recorded by any federal agency."
People fall in the welfare trap because it pays more than a regular job in most scenarios. I said in a previous post, that people have woken up to the scam of busting their asses making someone else rich whilst they're barely making rent.
The sad reality is , that the Government have had to impose through law that companies pay a minimum wage. And if it wasn't a law , the greedy fuckers wouldn't pay you anything if they could.
I'm not anti capitalism but we've let some corporations get out of control. Raking in hundreds of billions in profits alone whilst the workers get minimum wage.
And naturally people all say, go get a better job. Go to college. Pull yourself up by the boot straps etc. Sounds easy right ? Well it's not. Or we could hold corporations account and make them use a fraction of profits to up the wages to a living wage.
But here's the kick in the balls, corporations will pay more only if the government lowers their business taxes to compensate. And this is my point, those mother fuckers are terrified of having 1 billion less in profit despite being 200 billion in profit.
