Just cleaned up about 3 dozen drill bits, 1/2 dozen files, and about 1 dozen taps with white vinegar. Everything back to original metal, rust removed along with grease. Very satisfying.
I didnt need to clean the drill bits but they're my grandfathers and sentimental value is high. The files are pristine, a testament to the quality of tools made 50 years ago
