Fuck for profit prisons. CoreCivic is understaffed, underpaid and they put dangerous inmates next to low level offenders. A guy I arrested a few times YEARS ago was serving in a facility and he was placed next to an inmate that should have been in a much more secure facility, but he wasn’t. The guy I know is now dead after being assaulted and I doubt anything will ever happen to his new cellmate. He was troubled, but an otherwise good person that ended up in some trouble occasionally, but in a way, we became pals. I guess that’s how policing works in a small town. The biggest offense one can make in the U.S. is being poor, and then you’re off to a jail that’s publicly traded while the rich become slightly richer. Fucking screwed up system
