Upon execution of the search and arrest warrant, detectives conducted “knock and notice” notifications and identified themselves as law enforcement officers to the occupants inside the residence. Two occupants were detained by detectives without incident. A male, later identified as 70-year-old Miguel Lopez, was inside his residence holding a firearm. Detectives gave Lopez numerous commands to drop the firearm, but he refused. Two Detectives discharged their service weapons. Lopez sustained gunshot wounds to his torso. He was treated at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics and pronounced dead at the scene
