The burial is scheduled for this Wednesday (18), also in Penápolis. Adair died on Monday night (16), at Santa Casa de Penápolis, after spending three days in the ICU. He was the victim of a brutal attack on Friday afternoon (13), when he was stabbed by a neighbor in a psychotic episode. Security camera footage shows the moment when the attacker breaks into the elderly man's house with a knife in his hand and strikes him several times. One of the wounds pierced Adair's intestine, which is the cause of his death, according to the investigation. The suspect, 22, was identified as having schizophrenia, according to the family. In a statement to the police, he said that he attacked the retiree because he was hearing "Halloween voices". After the crime, the young man was arrested and sent to the Provisional Detention Center (CDP) in São José do Rio Preto (SP). According to the officer responsible for the case, the court will decide whether he will remain in prison or be transferred to a hospital for custody and psychiatric treatment.
