Around 5 p.m., San Diego Police officers responded to reports of a stabbing near 16th Street and Island Avenue. According to police, callers reported an adult woman was actively stabbing a man. Officers arrived and repeatedly ordered the suspect to drop the object she was holding. Police say the woman advanced toward officers, and one officer fired multiple rounds. The suspect was also tased during the incident. Officers provided medical aid before paramedics transported the suspect to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities say the male victim was not injured, and no officers were hurt. The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Denise Guzman of San Diego County. She was later booked into Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats. The officer involved was identified as Officer Yand Grijalva, who has been with SDPD for more than six years and is assigned to Central Division patrol. Show more
