On May 9, 2026, around 9 a.m., a pursuit by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office ended with the arrest of Dewayne Stokes, 44, of Milwaukee, following a traffic stop on northbound Interstate 41 near U.S. Highway 151 in the Township of Fond du Lac. A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper initiated the stop on a vehicle driven by Stokes, who had an active felony warrant from Kenosha County for failure to appear on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent (Stolen Vehicle). Stokes was out on a $5,000 signature bond. As a Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office deputy and another trooper arrived, Stokes fled. The approximately 4.5-mile pursuit continued through a business parking lot, West Johnson Street, South Pioneer Road and back onto Interstate 41 before Stokes exited at Winnebago Street at high speed. The vehicle entered a ditch, traveled up an embankment, became airborne over Winnebago Street and landed in a field. Show more
