Baltimore County Police were called to the unit block of Pheasant Wood Court in Parkton where an individual, who had reportedly been drinking, threatening to assault a family member and himself, left the location in a vehicle. Unfortunately, in this incident, after police conducted a car stop, circumstances occurred where the man, identified as Eric John Sopp (48) of the unit block of Pheasant Wood Court, was fatally shot. Police spokeswoman Sgt. Vickie Wareheim said that after Sopp was shot, police did not recover a weapon from his body. The officer involved in a shooting on I-83 is identified as Officer Page, a 21-year veteran of the department assigned to the Cockeysville Precinct (Precinct 7) with no prior police-involved shooting incidents.
